Loud Music, Noise Pollution And Lower Intellect

Most everyone has experienced that iconic driver or neighbor that plays music so loud that one would think it’s a warning system for an impending air raid on civilization. Yes, the one next to you at the traffic light, sporting a pretentiously clever smirk, leaning back almost out of sight, and blasting the social fabric with the bass boom that penetrates everyone’s brain and stops evolution cold on its tracks.

Oh, no… but it’s cultural expression, they’ll claim, and you’re simply racist for pointing out that hip hop is nonsense masking as music, purportedly competing with the tunes emanating from Beethoven’s 5th symphony or Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. After all, who’s to judge what’s art? Well, we can use the measured output of the various civilizations, and thus far Beethoven and Queen win.

Certainly defiance coupled with narcissism play a central role in the behavior which extends to abnormally loud speech mixed with mispronounced, often mumbled words, and connects with the simple fact that the perpetrators have virtually nothing to brag about. To add insult to injury, there’s a broader undying lack of respect for society regardless of the time of the day.

Cities have ordinances to address noise pollution but are seldom enforced, especially in certain areas due to local sensitivities. As an example, under the Houston Sound Ordinance, it is “unlawful for any person to make, continue, or cause to be made or continued any loud, unnecessary, or unusual noise that annoys, disturbs, injures, or endangers the comfort, repose, health, peace, or safety of others.” Yet and verifiable after one year, calls placed to the non-emergency police are almost always ignored, and the city, like many others, is a reflection of the cultural excellence that embraces noise pollution and will become a prime example of urban decay in the decades ahead.

Ever tried watching a movie, reading a book, or taking a nap while there’s that low frequency repetitive bass sound, courtesy of a neighbor? That unrelenting beat which is reminiscent of drums in the jungle used in an attempt to communicate something of questionable value. It’s nothing more than uncivilized behavior masked as a human right and cultural expression, which can always be found at the lower levels of Human Intellectual Stratification. The noise has a penetrating effect on the psyche that detracts from a person’s intellectual ability, which may not affect the culprit as evidenced by the lack of socio-techno-economic achievement.

Here’s the verdict: The louder you is, the dumber you be, no matter the college degree. It’s a wrap and it rhymes.
