Economic Imbecility Of Climate Change Activism

Newton’s Third Law of Motion states that “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction,” but we’ll go a step further and state that there are Pros and Cons to everything we do in life — every positive action has a negative consequence, and vice versa, that may be immediate or asynchronous. For example if my dog relieves itself on your yard, it’s a positive for Fido, but a negative for you. Nothing ever takes place in isolation, whether we see it or not, and that’s a concept that still evades many of us.

Climate Change activists, and most left wingers, view themselves as smarter than the populace, although they pursued mostly degrees in liberal studies and end up in academia and government. The math doesn’t add up, and that explains their authoritarian tendency because their ideology is like rotting fruit that sensible people will not buy.

Activists speak about behavior modification to avert pollution as if there aren’t extremely disruptive economic and social impacts. It’s not that some ideas aren’t commendable, but it’s simply idiotic to believe that it’s cost free. They also want to provide equal living standards for everyone on Earth, be it through open borders into the West (preferred destination for obvious reasons), or a constant flow of money to the Will-Never-Develop world via “UN And WHO Are Clown Shows Milking Western Civilization, which will add to pollution and the evil CO2. It’s a contradiction.

The silliness of Climate Change science was summarily questioned and exposed using their own data in “Climate Change, CO2 And You” and “What If Higher CO2 Emissions Are Saving The Earth?,” while the social inequality war was addressed in “Climate Change Is A Robin Hoodwink To Feed The Inept.”

Now Economics vs. Climate Change must be approached from a top of the mountain view, not “I have a weed in my eye” perspective, and the now infamous “Green New Deal” is nothing more than a work of fiction. Worse yet, the babbling idiots in charge never address the economic disruption that only one fraction of the proposed changes would cause, much less offer solutions. It’s a manifesto written by someone drowning in booze at a bar. But here’s the CO2 unrelated demand that equates to uncontrollable stupidity to the nth power:

Guaranteed job, leave, vacation and retirement: “guaranteeing a job with a family-sustaining wage, adequate family and medical leave, paid vacations, and retirement security to all people of the United States”

In short, it’s a wish list designed to take from industrious and creative citizens and feed millions of largely inept people, which would lead to an unrecoverable economic crash.

And here’s a peek into their deceitful practices, as reported by the The Fresno Bee. As of July 1, 2019, the price of a gallon of California gas included 57.8 cents of state tax and fees which was advertised as providing funding for road projects, but…

Gov. Gavin Newsom in late September signed an executive order that lets him redirect transportation funds to programs addressing climate change.

What’s worse? As people start to adopt electric cars, the intended goal to reduce CO2 emissions, the gasoline tax will be reduced, and a mile tax is the next target to continually feed the beast. It never ends.

Not only did COVID-19 extinguish Climate Change activism for the time being, it exposed the ugliness of shutting down economic segments, while money is being printed as if there aren’t future consequences. It also exposed the Pros and Cons of everything we do, like plastic bags vs reusable bags, as “SF outlaws reusable bags, which the city once championed.” Current pandemic aside, what other diseases are being passed around through reusable bags all year long?

U.S. plastics market size
U.S. plastics market size

The global plastics market size was valued at $568.7 billion in 2019, and over $80 billion in the U.S. alone, and regardless of the merits and flaws of plastics, its disruption has a cascading and often unforeseen economic impact on millions of people that depend on jobs, for which there’s no easy fix. Furthermore, not everything is about bags, soda bottles, straws, and packaging.

The growth of the construction industry in emerging markets such as Brazil, China, India, and Mexico has been instrumental in fueling the demand for plastics during 2018 and 2019

Plastics highlight the imbecility of clueless climate change activists and social equality warriors that want to upend the world economy without understanding basic economics. Although alternatives to plastics have been developed and proposed, many of them without consideration for the Cons — using corn starch affects the food chain — few are scalable and economically viable thus far. There’s never a win-win solution to anything we do, only workable and reasonable compromises.

There’s also human behavior and cultural issues that cannot be ignored, and “Ocean Pollution Viewed Through A Clear Plastic Straw” is a testament to the fact that the people of Asia and Africa do not view hygiene as a top priority. But political correctness, as demonstrated by refusing to say Wuhan virus, will continue to ignore the reality on the ground to the detriment of society.

Think about economics this way. Unlike plastics, Coca-Cola is a useless product that contributes to health and pollution issues, and the world can easily live without the fizzy drink. But to dismantle the production and distribution of Coke will wreak havoc with the lives of millions of people and the communities that depend on them, while the delusional moron yells at the top of her lungs “Guaranteed job, leave, vacation and retirement.” Who’s taking the risk to guarantee jobs? Government?

The much hated oil industry provides the raw material for plastic that is essential to health care, as the coronavirus has proven, and unlike imbeciles wearing backpacks made of polyester fail to realize, day in and day out, there are Pros and Cons to everything we do.

A friend once said: “Even Sleeping Beauty woke up from just a kiss; these people need 100 slaps.”
